Strengthening the national unity requires deep knowledge of the process of national identity formation and use this knowledge for promotion of the unification concepts and relevant values in the society. To achieve this goal, this paper aims at developing a systematic model for the strategic management of national identity. The proposed model was tested using DEMATEL technique. The results indicate that the historical and environmental factors (ethnic, national, and international) affect strength of nationalistic attitudes and behavior, more than any other element. Moreover, the official media, the education system, family and friends, as means of socialization and identity, are identified as part of the national identity management system.
